To turn off Messenger loading with Outlook Express, in Outlook Express click
teh Tools menu and then Options, then turn off the checkbox ‘Automatically
load Windows Messenger’. Then, click the View Menu and Select Layout.
Unselect the ‘Contacts’ option and click OK.
As well, if you'd like to keep your contacts window, you can edit the
registry. Open the registry (Click start, then run, enter regedit.exe and
click OK) and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express.
Right click on the left, and select New, then DWORD. Name the new DWORD
'Hide Messenger' (no quotes) and then double click it and enter ‘2’. Then
click OK and exit out of the registry editor.
If you want to completely remove Messenger from your PC, just close down
Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the
notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start
button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.
Messenger will now be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and
