Joe Morton, who stars on the SCI FI Channel original series Eureka, told SCI FI Wire that production is under way on season two, which will turn things on their heads. “I can only give you a little sense of what we're going to see in season two,” Morton said in an interview. “But basically things are going to be sort of turned on their head, lots of changes, lots of redirection of things that are very, very exciting.”
Eureka stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Jordan Hinson, Ed Quinn, Debrah Farentino, Matt Frewer and Morton in a comic drama about a secret small town that happens to be home to the nation's foremost scientific geniuses. Genre veteran Morton, whose credits include Brother From Another Planet, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Stealth, plays Henry Deacon, a former NASA engineer who fixes cars and won't work for Global Dynamics because he doesn't want to be involved in developing weaponry.
Morton said that all of the show's quirky characters will interact with each other more in the coming season than they did in season one. As an example, he cites a scene he shot the previous evening, one of his first with Farentino, who plays Beverly Barlowe. “Debrah and I did a series together many, many years ago, when she played my second chair in Equal Justice,” Morton said. "In all this time, in terms of Eureka, I never really had any scenes with her. So we just did a really lovely scene, which, well, you'll see. In terms of the kind of changes [he mentioned], I have to deal with her a little bit. So that will be fun." Season two of Eureka will begin in July.
