WHAT’S HOT DOWN UNDER

Want to know what's going to happen in the world's coolest street? We profile some of the major storylines soon to heat up Ramsay Street.

OPPOSITES ATTRACT

On the surface, Dee Bliss and Stuart Parker appear to have little in common.

Dee's a sexy nurse, wise to the ways of the world and with a colourful history of past relationships. Stuart, meanwhile, is a wide-eyed country boy who seems to have little understanding of a woman's needs and wants. They are the last two people an observer might expect to see together, but over the coming weeks, Dee and Stuart will try their luck at romance.

Neighbours.com caught up with Madeleine West, who plays Dee, and asked her how the storyline kicks off…

Neighbours.com: Hi Madeleine. When Stuart first arrived in Ramsay Street, what did Dee think of him?
Madeleine: She saw him as a naïve country hick, who was trying very very hard to impress the ladies. Dee thinks that his methods won¹t really score him much luck in the love stakes, but of course, that attitude doesn't last for long!

Neighbours.com: What does Stuart think of her?
Madeleine: He feels that she is a sophisticated young chick who¹s not too hard on the eye, and they should give it a bit of a burl!

Neighbours.com: How does Stuart manage to win Dee over?
Madeleine: Well, there is some kind of attraction there, which really develops when she comes to know a bit more about him. He convinces her to go on a date, and they decide they'll watch videos. But then Stuart backs out at the last minute, and Dee finds out the reason why. She learns that he's homeless, and is spending his nights sleeping on the floor at Lou's garage.

Neighbours.com: Stuart also makes another confession, right?
Madeleine: Yes, they start talking and Stuart admits the real reason he left Oakey is that his fiancee had a fling with his best mate. He's still very hurt about it, and is trying to start a new life. Dee can emphathise with that, as it wasn't so long ago she had a similar experience with Darcy and Tess.

Neighbours.com: Is Dee looking for another series relationship?
No. She¹s definitely just looking to have a little bit of fun, nothing with any deep emotional attachments. When Stuart comes along, she definitely doesn¹t want to go into another relationship. But he keeps trying and trying and trying, and is determined that they can make it work. She gets drawn into the magic of it all and Bob¹s your uncle. He has a lot of
elements that Joel had when she first met him. Having lost Joel just recently, he has appeal.

Neighbours.com: Dee allows Stuart to move into Number Thirty…
Madeleine: That's right. He can't stay at Drew and Libby's much longer, so she invites him to sleep on the couch. She's not saying she wants to take their relationship to that level, but she does want to help him out.

Neighbours.com: How do Toadie and Matt feel about Stuart moving in?
Madeleine: Matt¹s little bit suspicious, because suddenly there is a new guy in town chatting up all the ladies. Matt is a little put out because he also liked Flick, and now Stuart is competition. Toadie, meanwhile, has his own agenda happening. He¹s totally oblivious to what¹s going on.

Neighbours.com: What about Dee's ex-boyfriend, Dr Darcy Tyler?
Madeleine: Darcy thinks that Chooka is a bit of a joke and far too juvenile. He thinks that Dee is making the same mistake that she did with Joel, straight into the arms of a younger man on the rebound. He says that Dee is being a fool and he tries to advise. The fact that Darcy is against it kind of makes Dee decide she should go for it. If he¹s against Stuart, then it must be a good thing!

Neighbours.com: You've certainly given us plenty of reasons to keep watching this storyline. But we have one more question for you - how did you feel when Blair McDonough joined the show as Stuart, hot on the heels of his appearance in the Big Brother household?
Madeleine: I was a little bit surprised. I thought it was a very left field move. But since then, I have seen him working very hard on the show and I compliment him on that all the time. He¹s working really hard and there has definitely been a positive move. What you saw on Big Brother is exactly the way he is. He¹s a very funny guy and he¹s also capable of serious moments.
