Chip manufacturer Intel is poised to introduce its long-awaited Pentium 4 chip. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel has said the chip's two versions will run at 1.4 gigahertz and 1.5 gigahertz, which is faster than the 1.2 gigahertz Athlon chip from Advanced Micro Devices. Intel said it expects the Pentium 4 to reach speeds of 2 gigahertz in Quarter 3 2001.
