Mér skildist að Gorgoroth hefði farið í tvennt. Annarsvegar Infernus, hinsvegar Gaahl og King. Bæði teymin vildu nota Gorgoroth nafnið en þar væri komin upp deila sem þyrfti líklega að leysa fyrir rétti um notkun Gorgoroth nafnsins.
In October of 2007, Gaahl and Infernus had an undisclosed argument over the future of the band. Using a MySpace bulletin, they announced their dissolution. On October 22, the band's official website claimed Infernus to have departed the band, with Gaahl and King ov Hell to continue touring and releasing material under the name ‘Gorgoroth’, but as a founding member and the chief ideologist of Gorgoroth prior to this dissolution, Infernus is filing suit against his former contemporaries for use of the name.
It was later announced that Hellhammer has joined forces with Gaahl and King. A bulletin was posted on MySpace; “Continuing on with the new agenda now forged for Gorgoroth, Gaahl and King have enlisted none other than Hellhammer (Mayhem) to join them on battery beginning in 2008.
Gaahl and King are creating a force which will only contain members of a strong and creative energy in honor of the art that is Gorgoroth and their renewed sense of destruction and war! Hellhammer possesses these ideals and he will add another dimension to this new and different beginning.
Please welcome Hellhammer to the battle!”
