Interview with Zelg :
Q: So, when did you start with martial arts? What kind of martial art was it?
A: I started ITF Taekwon-do when I was 10 and I didn't stop ever since.
Q: When did you decide it was about time you start with ultimate fighting and how did it happen?
A:I trained and fought for NEW ASH GREEN ( outskirts of London ). It was all about stand-up fighting, so after a while I wanted to do some MMA just to kill some time. I fought in some smaller MMA shows for New Ash Green and was later“discovered” by TROJAN FREE FIGHTERS squad.
Q: You've never fought in CRO. Why is that so ? Do you wish to do compete in CRO ?
A: Actually, I'm a TrojanTeam product, so they decide how, when and who I fight against. I would love to fight in CRO. For now there are some “financial” reasons, that are preventing us to do so, but we are talking about it and I believe it will happen sooner ar later.
Q: Tell us about your engagement in England ?
A: I was a Taekwon-do fighter, when in 2002 I was invited to train and fight for a whole year with New Ash Green…….
Q: With your excelent performances you reached CageRage tournament. There aren't many steps left to reach Pride ?
A: CageRage is very strong org. whuch is directly linked with/to Pride and UFC. Beeing here is already a success for me. I would love to wear that CageRage belt sometime in the future. I can't tell you anything about fighting for/in Pride, but I can tell you that UFC showed some interest.
Q: Next, you are fighting Curtis Stoud , what can you tell us about him?
A: Stoud is very dangerous and experienced fighter. He is well know for KO-ing Gilbert and Weir. His ground game is good and he is considered to be one of the strongest stand-up fighters in CageRage. I know it will be difficult bout for me, but I intend to enjoy every second of it.
Q: Previously, it was announced you were sheduled to fight Pride veteran - Dajira Matsuia ? What happened ?
A: My manager told me, that this could happen. Beeing the strongest stand-up fighter in my weigh-class, I was supposed to fight instead of Cyborg, but not everybody thought that way. Some have said it was Stoud, who was the strongest, so here we are. 1.7 will give them the answer for sure. In the beginning ( when I was told about Stoud fight ) I was really disappointed. You know, I've trained hard for 2 months
preparing for Matsui and then this happened, but in the end I've been rewarded with an offer( check ) I couldn't refuse
Q: Sence i know that you accompany Mirko's results do you belive that Mirko can be a champion and what are you thoughts about his champ. atempts so far?
A: I have good relations with Mirko and we are helping eachother so i can tell you that now he is in great shape. If enyone deserved this belt then i would say: Mirko does. I think that his time has come. Talking about (Mirkos) achivements i think Mirko is one of »the few« who are »responsible« for popularization of this sport
Q: Another Croatian is going to fight Bushido soon. His name is Damir Mirenic. What do you about him?
A: I heard a lot of nice and positivly things about Damir. He is sportsmanwith lot of expiriance as an amater. A lot of Croatian fighters lack that expiriance. We all can be proud to have another world recognized representative in nthis pretentious sport.
Q: In Pula you have your own scholl for Ultimate Fight. Is there any potentional young talents?
A: I saw a lot of talents but that's just not enough. What we need (in Croatia) is a good amateur organizations wichwill open ppl eyes. Therefor the kids im my gym are training kick boks, thai boks, taekwon-do, etc……There is a few name that i would like to mention: Blazenko Tomisic, Davor Jugovac, Franko Kliman and Selim Velagic
Q: What would you do it if you got notice that you are facing Silva in a month?
A: I would jump in the air and call: THANK GOD FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY
Q: Who are the best LHW and HW fighters nowadays?
A: In HW: Mirko, Fedor, Sylvia, Arlovski, Werdum
In LHW: Liddell, Manhoef, Silva, Shogun
Q: You have a lot of support from home fans on Nokaut. Do you have any memessage for them?
A: Thanks for the support boys and girlsand don't forgot one thing: TRAIN HARD (to) FIGHT EASILY
