Ok, I have checked alot of posts and i cant find one that can help me… so here goes:
I have Mandrake 8.0, I installed It for the first time yesterday. Ok, when I had installed it I started t mess arund in it, which was fun by the way . The I went into this “mandrake manager” i think it was called, there you can configure your hardware and alot of stuff. Ok so i went into the boot section and told it to boot with Lilo the next time the computer was turned on. Ok all well and all. Then I went out to get pizza, and whe i came back i started my comp. Lilo worked well and i got into Xwindows and all. I went back ito “mandrake manager (i think its called that, its on the desktop) and into the boot section again. This time i think I changed the Xwindows booting, I thought i was changeing the theme of the booting, you know instead of the star being there with the litle icons, I instead changed it so I there would cme a list of things with check marks and all. When i started again, the checkmark stuff came, but i couln´t get into Xwindows. So I started IT AGAIN, and when the check mark stuff came I used the mouse to choose X windows and I got in. I went to ”mandrake manager“ and changed the theme into onbe similar to the default one. I start again and get the kernal window, not Xwindows, so i login as root and type startx. I get in, but my mouse dosent work, it always worked before. Ok so I restarted, the booting progress started, then it said an error was on my disk and promted up a message saying: ”Do you want to fix the error“ and a ”Yes“ option and a ”No" option… … … There wasent a cursor… So i coulnt choose a option… ARG… So I Restarted, and choosed to go straight into the kernel. There i logged as root and said startx. It said there was an error on the disk and asked to fix it. I pressed return and it asked for the root password, i typed it in and it said me to manually use fsck (it think it was called that). What do I do? there are alot of answers i think to this, if i could get the cursor to work, run this fsck and get it to boot xwindows instead of booting to the kernal (isent the kernal the dos like screen with the litle pengy picture in the top right corner by the way?)…
Please help me, thank you
