Under-19s demolish Reds ^top
The Under-19s continued Arsenal's week of success with a 5-1 first-leg routing of Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Premier Academy Under-19 final.
Don Howe's side now have a seemingly unassailable advantage to take into next Wednesday's second leg at Highbury thanks in large to a terrific hat-trick from Jeremie Aliadiere.
The Frenchman struck after 11, 12 and 65 minutes, with Jermaine Pennant (18) and Paulinho (31) completing the rout.
Pennant was substituted 20 minutes from time with a hamstring injury, casting a doubt over his involvement with the England Under-21s in the European Championships in Switzerland, although Pennant himself is confident it is not too serious.
The Reds got a 90th-minute consolation through highly-rated striker Neil Mellor, but the visiting young Gunners will have a four-goal advantage for the second leg.
Team: Holloway, Bailey, Nicolau (Rouse 86), Sculason (Spicer 23), Hoyt, Garry, Pennant (Brown), Paulinho, Aliadiere, Bentley (capt), Thomas.
