Dear Fellow Dog Lover,
We need your help.
Here in Iceland the Reykjavík authorities have given their approval to a notorious puppy farming family of 5 people who have been breeding dogs in 1996. They have been given a licence to keep 100-120 dogs of about a dozen breeds, all for breeding and kept in cages in a barn on their property. All these dogs are cared for by just 5 people! (You can see their web page on: http://www.dalsmynni.is/page52.htm )
Iceland has a very short history in dog ownership, both as pets and for breeding, so it is vital that we stop this sort of practice before it becomes established. The Reykjavík authorities seem to look on this sort of breeding in the same light as mink or fox farming for the fur trade, as a profitable business where it is acceptable to keep the animals in cages as long as they are well fed.
We are looking for support from fellow dog lovers to write to the following e-mail address to tell them the importance of dogs growing up and living in a caring and social environment, and if kept in kennels that they be suitable for dogs to live in.
We would be extremely grateful for your help in our effort to bring to the authorities attention how very wrong this type of establishment is for the domestic dog by writing to them with your views on this matter.
Please add your name to the list and forward this to anyone you know who is willing to join the fight against puppy farming.

Please send a copy back to us so we can see how things are going.
We thank you for your support,
