Someone has posted reply by Gooseman to an e-mail about the new models. Here's what he says:

I will definitely address the player model issue. I'm not too happy the way they removed my death animations and my flinching animations so I'll like to re-add those in CS 1.1. I actually don't mind the models too much, I think they're very detailed.. but for those who liked the older models (mine), I'll probably release a version of those that work with CS 1.1 as well.
