Statement from zEx
There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what actually happened in the finals match tonight of Gamers-X vs zEx. First of all I'd like to congratulate them on a great season.
However, I'd also like to clear up any misconceptions that people might have about what actually happened as far as the restarting, the lagging out (packeting…), what zEx and GX proposed should be done, and Team zEx's opinion of the events that took place.
GX outplayed us in the first 7 rounds of that game, there is no arguing that, in the 8th round, there was a 2v1 situation in zEx's favour where the bomb was planted. As they were approaching the bombsite to defuse, we were packeted, crashed, and went back into the server 10 minutes later, with the round being taken by GX. Although this was extremely dissapointing, we went back into the server with $4200 (since we just got in before the 9th round started), which offered us m4 with armor, and no kits or nades. After getting 2 quick frags, we were packeted once again. When we came back in the server, the 9th round had started, so we had a mere $800. There was no point in continuing, so we typed /kill for the remaining 2 rounds out of anger, and also so we could try to figure out a solution, as it was getting out of hand.
This is where Team zEx (although already incredibly disadvantaged) feels we got completely screwed. Since we had crashed in the middle of the 8th round (where I must repeat, we had a 1 man advantage), we believed it would be fair that we began with a pistol round GX up 7-0. However, they believed that since they were financially advantaged, they should win that 8th round by default. We accepted this, although still extremely frustrated, and were ready to start a pistol round, down 8-0. However, before we could go live, GX insisted that they still have some sort of money advantage, so proposed to start with $3700 (which would leave zEx with m4s and no armor, kits, or nades), and providing them with AKs and armor.
We tried to convince them to let us start with either $4749, preventing either team from purchasing AWPs, but allowing each team to have the appropriate equipment for a fair round (which, realistically, is the abililty to have an m4, armor, and atleast a kit), or start a pistol round down 8-0. They refused, and said they would only play with $4200, which would leave us without kits. We reluctantly accepted, and they simply took over the B site, where we could not flash or nade in, and had to run in within the first 10 seconds or we would not be able to defuse in time (since we had no kits). After losing that round we essentially gave up the side, saved 2 rounds, and lost the final gun round, having practically completely given up hope.
Lastly, I'd like to point out that in the finals of LanTactics, where $3000 was on the line, zEx vs GX on de_dust2, we were up 12-9 and all of GX's comps crashed. Instead of proposing some proposterous financial advantage for our team, we agreed to start on a pistol round up 12-9, even though we knew if they won the pistol round they would win the next 2 rounds since we would be saving. We ended up winning the pistol round and the tournament, and the fact that not one of GX's members took our understanding at that event into consideration, is frankly, insulting.
We realize that the length of this response to the match tonight is extremely lengthy, but we all felt that every aspect for this excuse of a match should be addressed, so that facts wouldn't find themselves evaporating over the next few days.
