During the summer we sponsored this Subverse showcase, not really knowing about the groups that were going to perform. One of the acts was Atmosphere, we had heard a lot about Slug, but we had no idea what we were in for. First of all, there was mad girls there, very rare for an nyc hip-hop show. The place was packed with an equal number of people outside not able to get in. So, the first act comes on… yeah, yeah, some typical backpack stuff, then Atmosphere takes the stage and the crowd is going off the heezy. Girls were dangling off the balcony, these girls next to us were beefin with other girls over not being able to see. He busts into the first song with these big pink pig dolls, and every single person in place is yelling along. This madness goes through the whole night, one of us said that this was like some Dave Matthews shit, a giant singalong. Well we have to give it to em. This guy looks like Johnny Knoxville and flows better that most emcees. This is probably old news to most, but to those who don't know, welcome to the weird world of Atmosphere.
