Massively multiplayer on-line role-playing does not follow the gaming market model of releasing titles in series and deriving profits from a percentage of the gross sales of the boxed product. Rather than just selling a game in a box, InOrbit will launch a narrowcast cable channel, with a persistent need for content seven days a week.

Science fiction is not just in this game. It IS this game. San Francisco, London, Reykjavik and other cities will be Homelands in the first single, persistent world modeled from this planet, the first world based on Geographic Survey maps of the actual Earth and rendered as a massive interactive soap opera and an intense virtual theme park all rolled into one.

We see our content stream evolving far beyond the initial game scenario of Warp Storm, even as sweeping as we have made that scenario. Because eventually titles in genres other than science fiction and fantasy will need to evolve to meet the tastes of a broadband entertainment audience as it evolves and expands beyond the ranks of diehard gamers. There will be the immersive on-line equivalent of Ally McBeal someday, and InOrbit would love to be the ones to bridge that genre gap.
