hér á eftir fer Gömul tilkynning frá Gamespot.com:
“We got an up-close look at some of the early levels of the PS2 version of Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, a first-person shooter based on the sci-fi tabletop game from Games Workshop.
Fire Warrior will take place in the far-flung future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. You'll play as a member of the tau–a new race recently introduced into the Warhammer 40,000 campaign setting. In accordance with the tabletop source materials, you, as a tau commando, will wear a custom battle suit and specialize in ranged weapons. You'll begin the game on a simple rescue mission in which you must liberate an ally from Imperium soldiers, but you'll soon find yourself up against the forces of Chaos, one of the most overwhelmingly powerful and evil factions in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. However, you won't really need to be familiar with Games Workshop's setting in order to play, since the game's futuristic weapons will resemble enhanced versions of conventional weapons, such as mini-guns, sniper rifles, and flamethrowers, and most of these will have alternate firing modes. At various points in the game, you may also be able to interact with various objects in the environment, such as mounted machine guns.
Most of the game's enemies will have challenging AI that won't be overwhelming; though some enemies will act and react to your presence by taking cover or calling for help, some of their actions will also be scripted. The game will have eight different in-engine cutscenes that will advance the story at various points in the game's 17 levels. Fire Warrior will feature dynamic lighting and clouds in its outdoor areas, as well as an interesting blur effect when zooming in with the sniper rifle. However, in the levels we saw, the textures in the environments seemed a bit basic; however, they were fairly early and should hopefully be retouched. Though the PS2 version of the game most likely won't feature any online features, the PC version of the game will support online multiplayer modes such as deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag.Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior is scheduled for release later this year.”
