Highlights and reasons:
Anti Magic Zone is a must for any DK in 2s and 3s. 5s allows you to be much freer with your spec.
No Death Rune flexibility because your Rune Tap is going to eat a rune and not convert it to a Death Rune anyway. This means that your “Death Rune” rotation for more Scourge Strikes is going to be nuked anyway, so it's pointless.
Bloodstrike hits like a wet noodle anyway, so not a huge loss. Keep in mind this isn't a High DPS build. It's a pvp survivability build.
Night of the Dead is a must because your pet is a great source of damage and utility. He's also squishy as hell. The pet, Imp. Death Grip and Desecration will all assist you in stopping the most prevalent anti-DK tactic: Being KITED!
Virulence is a big duh. On A Pale Horse is also a big duh.
Why no Butchery? Because your blood runes are always going to be on cool down. Blade Barrier gives you a nice bonus to Parry when you pvp with Swordshattering. You will be looking at a parry increase of +8% all the time, not to mention Swordshattering is -50% to disarm duration. Kind of a big deal with this swing oriented spec.
Converesely, you could put points into Butchery and run with Fallen Crusader to try and squeeze out some more burst. Personal preference here.
Glyphs:
Bone Shield, IBF, Rune Tap.
I catered these to my 2s spec which will be Ret / DK.
The glyphs I use are my own personal preference. Giving BS another charge is pretty big IMO because of the +damage mitigation it offers. Thats another hit that is going to do 40% less damage to you. Limited healing will help me keep my groupmate alive as will his Art of War procs for me.
Must have Macros:
/cast Leap
/cast Gnaw
Leaping stun to help you close the gap. Keep spamming it to a hotkey to make sure it works. I have it bound to `.
#showtooltip Death Coil
/cast [nomodifier] Death Coil; [modifier:alt, target=pet] Death Coil
Alt + Key with this macro targets your Ghoul instead of you and heals it. Note the minor glyph choice here so I can try and keep my pet up while not nuking all my RP at the same time.
Cons:
While not having Death Runes is not THAT big of a deal, it does afford you a lot of flexibility in playing. I'm tempted to drop some points in Rage of Rivendare to pick up Reaping but I want to see how this week pans out first. I do not think it will be necessary.
