I will post this again since you idiots will not be bothered to
search the forum for an answer.

There are 2 fixes for the Application Version error, one of them is
reinstalling. Here are the steps to fix without reinstalling:

1.) Download the Resource Hacker and the Diablo II Patch from the
website. The files are here:

http://www.blizzard.com/support/information/d2xpatch.shtml

2.) Use the Resource Hacker to open Game.exe in your Diablo II folder.
3.) Go to “Version Info” in the Resource Hacker and change
the FILEVERSION line to 1,0,9,21
4.) Click compile and then save it.
5.) Now run the Diablo II patch you downloaded.

You should now be able to connect to Battle.net normally.
