Arcane Frost - 40/0/21 (PvE)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0AM0fzxIziZZVV0csc0oRecommendations: Less than 600 spell damage.
Advantages: Mind Mastery gives you a huge damage boost. Large crit bonus. Arcane Power and Presence of Mind.
Disadvantages: Ice Block helps with survivability, but lacks many good talents from the Frost Tree.

Deep Frost - 10/0/51 (PvE variation)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Rf0VZZVAMcssxoiqtRecommendations: 600+ spell damage
Advantages: Ice Block, Frostbolts hit hard, Water Elemental damage is great.
Disadvantages: I would say ‘Fire is more damage’, but there was a small Frostbolt buff in Patch 2.1 so I will stay quiet for now.

Deep Frost - 10/0/51 (PvP variation)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0VZZVVGIsbtsbqtRecommendations: 20% crit chance. 500 spell damage.
Advantages: Ice Block is great for PvP. Lots of slowing and snaring options available to you.

Arcane/Fire (Mind Mastery)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=kf0ic0fzxIziZxghzbcRecommendations: Less than 600 spell damage.
Advantages: Lolpyro. Summary: Mind Mastery is perfect for giving people with low damage a small boost. A great starting point for Fire Mages.
Disadvantages: Lacks the dps of some of the other specs, but can still hold it's ground.

Elemental - 0/32/29 (PvP)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=RZExGz00cRxZVVGcobxobRecommendations: Well balanced damage and crit.
Advantages: Ice Block, Burst Damage, High Crit Chance, Impact.
Summary: This spec has a little bit of everything, meaning you can react to nearly any situation. But like all Elemental specs, fights are long and involves a lot of toying with your opponent. An interesting playstyle and very fun indeed, take it with Engineering to do some serious damage.
Disadvantages: No ‘big’ damage. The spec's only real use in Battlegrounds, but there's no better spec out there in my personal opinion.

Arcane Fire - 33/28/0 (PvE / PvP)
Recommendations: +600 spell damage before it becomes viable.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=kf0ic0fzLGzbZxgMzfcc0bAdvantages: High burst damage, large crit bonus, insta-pyro for PvP, large mana pool, +15% mana while casting. High crit chance results in nice mana return from Master of Elements. Awesome for 5-mans.
Disadvantages: Lacks survivability. Slightly less damage on bosses than Deep Fire

Deep Fire - 10/48/3 (PvE)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Rf0VZxgRzfcIoeRt0hRecommendations: +650 spell damage before it becomes viable.
A raiding PvE spec, supposudly the highest dps spec on bosses but lacking on burst damage.
Advantages: Molten Fury is great for long encounters, high crit chance, dragons breath.
Disadvantages: Requires a high crit rating to get nice mana return from Master of Elements. I use
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27922#00z for boss fights to help this, nice proc rate. Make sure to have evocation, mana gems and some potions available on all boss fights.

Deep Arcane - 43/18/0 (PvE)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oi0Vc0fzxIuiZxgMzcSummary: The highest raid DPS spec in TBC. Unfortunately it requires the (2) Tier 5 set bonus and at least 1 Shadow Priest in the group to become viable.
Advantages: Crazy damage.
Disadvantages: Heavy on mana consumables and mana gem cooldowns, meaning Health Potions and HS's are never there when you need them. The worst spec in the game for PvP.
