Fighting Forces: United States Army vs. North Vietnamese Army
Location: Southeast Asia
Engine: DICE has built a NEW graphics engine for improved graphics. Rendering will be done with normal-mapping and bump-mapping. They also are using a new rendering process called “normal mapping.”. This greatly improves models within the game. Normal Mapping is superior to other techniques due to the fact it uses three vectors of information when building a model.
Audio Engine: There will be a brand NEW Audio Engine for Battlefield: Vietnam. Due to limitations and technical problems with the BF1942 Engine, they have decided to implement this new Engine. Greatly improving the quality, greater/better performance and improved ambient audio. One nice new feature is the ability to listen to music while in a vehicle such as a Jeep. Allowing you to choose from a playlist provided. No word on what music will be selected. My guess is 60's music, duh!
A new face: The player will be able to control how their soldier looks by being able to change the ‘body’ and ‘head’ of the player model in game.
Class System: Each soldier class will be able to choose between two primary weapons that can be used for each class. Allowing you to choose the most effective weapon for each situation. The NVA also gets a special sixth class, the Vietcong.
Mobile Spawn Zones: NVA engineers have the ability to relocate spawn points on the map through digging and creating tunnels. While the US can deploy mobile landing zone with the Huey.
Watch out for Traps: Certain soldiers classes with have the ability to set booby traps. One such trap that is know is the log trap. Which when triggered, a crap load of logs will start rolling, killing anyone in its path! You always have to be on the lookout!
Chopper lift: The choppers have the ability to lift objects (tanks, jeeps) and transport them anywhere on the battlefield. But while transporting the chopper will be weighed down and suffer in mobility.
Capturing Flags: Dynamic flag system, not static like in BF1942. It still only takes one man to cap a flag in Vietnam. But if you have more teammates with you. You will be about to turn that flag at a faster pace. A timer will be displayed, so you will know just how long you have to watch your ass before the flag turns in your favor!
Tunes for the ride: The American soldiers will be able to listen to 60's music while being transported in the Huey. So far only Hendrix tunes are known to be played.
Game Mode: CTF and Deathmatch will be removed. Two new game modes will be added called: Evolution and Custom Combat.
Evolution - This mode spans two maps, having each players scores and who won carried over to the second map.
Custom Combat - Allows servers to create and run custom configurations for maps. Allowing them to be able to change vehicles, weapons and more.
Anti-Cheat: Anti-Cheat technology will be integrated into the game.
Environment: Dense Jungle, rural areas and city locations.
Known map locations: Saigon and the jungles around the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Which will included many types of battles; PBR fighting, infantry fighting, helicopter combat, air combat, city combat
